Who we are

MakOps Ltd is the data controller for this website. We are registered in England & Wales, company number 12662463, and based in Liverpool, UK.

What we collect, and why

The only information this site asks for is what you type into the contact form: your name, email address, and optionally your company and phone number, together with the message describing what you are looking to achieve. We use it to read and reply to your enquiry, and to carry on the conversation if it leads somewhere.

When a message is sent we also briefly record the IP address it came from. That is used only to limit automated abuse of the form. It is not used to identify you or build a profile.

Sending an enquiry generates two emails: one to us containing your message, and an acknowledgement to the address you gave.

Our lawful basis

We rely on legitimate interests — responding to an enquiry you chose to send us, and running our business. If a conversation becomes a piece of work, we then hold the information we need in order to perform that contract.

We do not use your details for marketing, we do not run a mailing list, and we do not sell or share your information with anyone for their own purposes.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising tracking. Nothing here follows you between sites, so there is no cookie banner to dismiss. If we add analytics later we will choose a privacy-conscious option, update this policy first, and add a consent prompt if the technology requires one.

Who else handles your information

We keep the number of parties involved small. Your information may pass through:

• our website hosting provider, which serves this site;
• our email delivery provider, which sends the enquiry and the acknowledgement;
• our email provider, where the enquiry then sits in a mailbox.

These providers act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes. We can tell you who they currently are — just ask.

Some providers operate outside the UK. Where information is transferred abroad we rely on the safeguards those providers have in place, such as UK-approved standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as it is useful — long enough to reply, and for the life of any work that follows, plus the period we are required to keep business records. Enquiries that do not lead anywhere are cleared out periodically. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct anything inaccurate;
• ask us to delete it;
• ask us to restrict how we use it;
• object to us using it on the basis of legitimate interests;
• ask us to transfer it to you or someone else.

Send a request through the contact form and we will deal with it. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page. Where a change materially affects how we use information already given to us, we will say so.
